ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Selector Committee chairman MSK Prasad reaffirmed the all-rounder Vijay Shankar for the World No. 4 in the World Cup but the young cricketer’s performance in IPL 2019 is not good.
Team India’s chief coach, Ravi Shastri, believes the team is fully prepared for the World Cup to be held in England from May 30 and has removed all the shortcomings.
In an interview to Cricketnext, Shastri said that India is a flexible team and he has such players who can play at any place on time.
Shastri said, ‘I think we have removed all the drawbacks. The last thing you need is a traveler on the tour. If you need 15 such players then you can play matches at any time and at the given time. ‘
Shastri also expressed his opinion on the long-running dispute. BCCI preferred Vijay Shankar to Ambati Rayudu for the fourth position.
However, Shankar’s performance in the recently concluded IPL did not look as good as expected. Shankar scored 244 runs in 15 matches while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Shastri said, “I do not think the fourth order is a big problem because I think our team is very flexible. We have enough weapons. We have enough players who can bat at number-4. That’s why I do not worry much about this sequence. “
During the interview, Shastri told about the relationship between MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli and said that both respect each other and the goal of the team is to both.
He said, ‘I have no doubt that Virat-Dhoni does not respect each other. Both respect each other and both are dedicated to sports. In my first phase, MS was the captain for me and Virat’s vice-captain
And now it has changed. I have seen that Dhoni-Kohli highly respect each other, who are fantastic. ‘
Head coach of Team India pointed out that every member of the Indian team knows Dhoni’s achievements and he learns a lot from the former captain. Shastri, 56, said, “Everyone knows what Dhoni has achieved from the game. Their level is different and then their personality is excellent.
You have an idea of their presence. The way he plays the game in batting and wicketkeeping in his own way, he would like to see you repeatedly and would like to repeat this by learning.
The Indian team will start its campaign in 2019 World Cup against South Africa on June 5.
